‘Bad policy’ which ‘nobody’ asked for: Govt announces nationwide digital ID program
Sky News host Liz Storer labels the government’s nationwide digital ID program a “bad policy” which “nobody” asked for.
Government Services Minister Bill Shorten announced the Albanese government’s plan to roll out a nationwide digital ID program.
“This is truly a backflip from the usual modus operandi from the government,” Ms Storer said.
“Every single time you have a measure like this, which increases people’s reliance on the government while increasing the government’s power – that right there is the axis of evil.
“That is where you go, no, bad policy, we do not want it.
“Nobody has asked the government for this.”

Liberal Senator Alex Antic slams the Albanese government’s proposed digital ID laws.
“This digital ID act that was passed earlier in the year is setting up the framework for a digital surveillance state in this country,” Mr Antic told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“I have no confidence in governments being able to keep our data safe.
“This is why I have introduced a digital ID repeal into the Senate … the is bad law and we are walking into a digital surveillance state trap.”
