Calls to educate conscientious vaccination objectors using anti-smoking-style education campaign

HEALTH experts have called for an anti-smoking-style public education campaign to convince vaccine-hesitant parents to immunise their children.
Australia’s Chief Scientist Professor Ian Chubb said the education program was needed to counter discredited research that was contributing to vaccine hesitancy and allowing the re-emergence of deadly diseases like measles.
About 39,000, or 2 per cent, of Australian parents are conscientious objectors who remain permanently resistant to vaccination. But Prof Chubb wants to target the more than 100,000, or 6 per cent, who are hesitant or selective about vaccination based on suspected side effects they have read about on the internet.
